May 4, 2007 — New technology from Microsoft Research India in Bangalore could end the waiting game in offices with limited computers. Researchers are developing software that splits a computer screen in two halves, each side with its own operating system, desktop, applications, cursor and keyboard.

I could see this gaining use in testing scenarios, but I would doubt anyone would want to split a 15 inch screen with someone to do work. It would be cramped, and the resolution would be pathetic (512x768? what kind of working space is that).
Seems like a good idea marketed to the wrong situation.

i think the jetart (maybe another company) motherboards that support HT had the right idea - use one machine as two terminals, dual monitor, dual input etc

I think this might be useful in developing countries, where HW is at a premium, but aside from that ... I mean, it's been developed in MS India, after all, so that's likely the mindset.
