DH Review: Antec P182 SE Chassis
Read The Review Here
________________________ Back in the end of July -05 we had a look at a more or less revolutionary computer enclosure from Antec’s Performance One series; called the P180. It had some innovative features such as three layer sound dampening side doors with separated apartments for the Power Supply unit and the motherboard. We liked this case so when Antec contacted us about a new updated “Special Edition” version called the P182 SE (which only will be made in 5000 units), we couldn’t resist having a look at it. |

Nice review. I own the case and love it so far.
By the way, you linked the wrong case on the review. This is the real price and case (with the mirror shine) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129026 |

do you think antec slipped up a bit with the snakelight? who's gonna be working inside their computer installing cards or (god forbid) more vital components like cpus?
wouldn't it be better if it ran off a seperate power lead or even battery? nice idea though, just needs some work |

Ya it's a great idea but useless if the power has to be on for it to work. An AA battery or two would have sufficed.

The only reason I can think of not to put batteries in a snake light is that it could get pretty hot inside the case and the batteries might explode or leak acid. Battery life wouldn't be a problem for something used that infrequently; far as I know the longer batteries sit in a device unused the more they can be a problem.

Well there is some kind of a battery on all motherboards, so that really cant be the reason.

Those flat ones are like watch batteries it's a different story with AA and AAA batteries. I've had AA's explode in my mouse a couple times (sounds like a gunshot).

Nice case and all, but i will NEVER spend $250 on an Antec case definately when it is almost the exact same as a $150 Antec.

I'm dangerous but cute...

apart from the mirror finish and a chunk of money, what if any, are the differences between the P182SE and the standard P182?

Well they could have used a small rechargeble lithium battery, like in laptops, but i guess that would have been to expensive.

hi...nice review, but i've got something to add...
i have antec p180b europe version, and it has two three-step fan switches on back top end (3rd page, above 6th pic) and that holes for water cooling. i wish i wouldn't buy this 180. if only i would know that 182 is gonna be released soon interior and back side of my case are silver, not black as side panels. besides...the fans really didn't bother you? i'm planning to cut out those grills, so fans won't be so loud. |
