You guys asked, "What about regular mid-range PSUs?" So we bought five power supplies and then tested them to see if they would do what they were advertised to do. A melting fiery mess proves you get what you pay for. 5 PSU enter, 1 PSU leave.

Wow! one damaged part of their test gear!

The star, out of a motley assortment, was naturally the Fortron model, not perfect (but stayed within ATX spec), but the only one worthy of its claimed ratings.

As a general rule, a cheap 500W is more like a 350W from a better name.

To bad they forgot Antec Triopower 550W which is within the tested price-range and would properly won the test.
