Nvidia claims G92 will be a 1 Teraflop beast
Source: The INQ
___________ NVIDIA says its G92 high-end graphics card will deliver almost a teraflop of computing performance. In an analyst webcast, Nvidian Michael Hara says that the chip will be ready for Christmas, a release cycle the company adopted with G80, where high-end products come out for Chrimbo and the mid-range and low-end products hit in the spring. This suggests a couple of things. One, that the delays we saw to the release of Nvidia hardware through 2006 and 2007 have now been factored into the schedule, to a point where we're going to see yearly updates of the high-end part every Q4. This is pretty nifty. Second, Nvidia doesn't see the benefit in releasing all three ranges of cards together, preferring to let the 'halo' effect of the high-end card provide a few months of advanced marketing for the mid-range parts. |

Yo...I'm wondering how much power it will eat. Soon I'd have to get my own little gaspowered generator to power up that beast inside my PC... GPUs are already taking up HUGE amounts of power. I just can't afford paying those bills.

PCI-EX2.0 probably, using perhaps a single 8pin pci-ex connector?
most likely going to use 80/65nm tech and possibly 600million transistors? who knows atm, but we'll find out come christmas.... just another 6 months away.

Neon: did you see the date of that article? Feb. 28, 2007, it's old!!!
we all know r600 sucks, consumes just nearly as much power as the g80, and you gotta buy a new PSU with the 8 pin PCI-E molex. if these rumors are true about g92, it will decimate r650

well it isnt like nVidia cards were built for folding anyhow......it probably would be able to pump more FPS than the ATi cards in gaming because if what ATi says is true about there being nothing wrong with the R600 cards in terms of performance then....im not buying their cards.

This is what I was waiting for. If they have a new PCI-E socket I can finally upgrade the motherboard, CPU (to intel), and this card.
