The cartridge, updated, catches up to data
Source: News.com
_________ If you've ever felt as though you can't keep up with the pace of life, well, it could have been worse. You could have been a computer disk. The history of removable disks is one sad "couldn't keep up" story after another. Remember the floppy disk (800KB)? The SyQuest cartridge (44MB)? The Zip disk (100MB)? The Jaz disk (1GB)? The recordable DVD (4.7GB)? Each one seemed at first like a handy system for making backups and transporting files. But as computer hard drives grew, those removable disks wound up looking pathetically puny. |

Oh, bad memories... a 40-floppy backup or software floppy creation from images on the hard disk, and only a box of UNFORMATTED floppies - with 2 machines side by side, I had one formatting while the other was using the disk, a lot faster than using the backup/copy programs to do the formatting.
Compared to that, punting stuff from old to new computer over 100Mbit full duplex was a delight.
