Microsoft CEO says Google complaint is "baseless"

DETROIT (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. Chief Executive Steve Ballmer on Friday said a complaint lodged by Google Inc. was "baseless" as the software company was complying with a 2002 antitrust settlement.

In a complaint filed with the Department of Justice in December, Google said a feature built into Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system that allows users to search a computer's hard drive did not leave room for competition from other desktop search applications.

a search feature has been built into windows since it's inception? it's hardly a "new" feature

Thats really effing lame. Google you really suck on this one. LAME! Its their OS come on! Its not a name branded feature either and its existed forever! Can you use 3rd party search in a mac?

It's a windows operating system, not a windows system for other companies to do things in. This is rediculous.

Absurd. Why the fudge would MS not be able to include a good search tool? Google is getting more annoying by the day.
