DH Review: GMC Noblesse AVC-M1
Read The Review Here
___________________________ GMC is perhaps the only manufacturer that focused entirely on HTPC cases during the past few years. A few weeks ago we had a look at the Noblesse AVC-S1 HTPC case from GMC, a very small and narrow case, meant to fit narrow spaces and match mini Hi-Fi systems. Today we will take a look at yet another HTPC case from GMC, the AVC-M1. The AVC-M1 is similar to the S1 but considerably taller and doesn’t need a proprietary PSU, a short cooler and does not limit the user to low profile expansion cards. Hopefully GMC didn’t repeat any of the other mistakes as well.

these cases can have a nice cool design, but since they are almost always made in asia they have terrible terrible support. their pages usually load in chinese/taiwanese/korean then the english has some weird sayings.... in addition, updates for their software is poor and it is unknown when it is released. these things defer me from buying such a case. for example, i dont know if the software works on vista yet... and if not it will probably be not a well notified update through email or autoupdate.
but i do like that LCD, its been years i cant find the thread but I want a drive bay LCD screen like that. i want to see the equalizer, volume, system info, system temps and other junk. it would rock! i dont think the hardcano can do beyond system temps and it looks too wild anyone know? |

Hello there, All of the GMC cases have VFD screens and remote controls from iMon, which is a separate company designing HTPC software and devices. The Soundgraph software works in Vista and it has pretty good support. http://www.soundgraph.com/Eng_/main.aspx Also, the manual is not perfect, but it is good enough. You shouldn't need more information than what it provides to assemble a system even if you are a complete amateur. If you do, you better not assemble the system yourself! ![]() If I could find things like poor software support or a manual which is not written at least in English, it wouldn't ever get an award from me. |
