Driver "pimps his ride" with home A/C unit
Source: SNAFU-ed
________ Civil Engineer Scott Dawson had gone through 3 years of Houston summers without A/C, and decided he'd had enough. Rather than spending $1200 to get the A/C fixed on a car he planned to get rid of soon, he decided to go the cheap route. He took a home window A/C unit, bolted and wired it to his car, and created a definite non-babe magnet. |

![]() ![]() I'm sorry, but that looks retarded. I could see it working in the back of a flatbed truck but on the roof of a car...

depends really..
for the size of the car, he could have ended up with something a HELL of alot smaller and better suited... but meh, that unit looked like a $100 USD... Course i'd be intrested in how the hell he wired the sucker up, 12v to well a small AC is 120(110)v...... i doubt he went out and spent 300 bucks on a 120v/12v alternator. And yes, repairing AC units can get ungodly expensive. Depending on the specific design these POS cramped and packed all to hell cars, theres not really much a "standard" anymore. Specially if you have to by Specific Brand related parts and no jobbers are available. And if he's driving a few miles, at sub 60km/h, i highly doubt the mpg is gonna drop ALL that much.
