Intel launches two quad-core server processors

Source: DigiTimes
___________
Intel has officially launched its X5365 and L5335 quad-core Xeon processors containing new virtualization capabilities.

Designed for companies running performance-critical server and workstation applications, the X5365 is the industry’s first 3.0 GHz quad-core processor to fit inside a standard 120W power envelope, according to Intel. The X5365 also features a front side bus (FSB) speed of 1333MHz.

The L5335 includes a 2.0 GHz clock speed and 1333MHz FSB within a 50W power envelope – or just 12.5 watts per processing core, noted the company.

blown503 will become famous soon enough

Beat Amds $1500 + quad cores to the market. These will be cheaper with a faster fsb!

AMD's quadcore doesn't have a "FSB" the Front side bus was known as the speed between the processor and the chipset's northbridge specifically the memory controller. Well it's hard to have a FSB when the Northbridge is integrated into the processor.. So I find it hard for a 1333mhz FSB to beat that of a processor clocked over 2Ghz with a "FSB" of the same speed .

Anyways it is hard to compare the Barcelona to the Core2 Duo/Quad series of chips because of differences like this.. Best bet is to just wait and see what happens after/around September 10th.
