Standard canon EOS 400D non rebel is top of my christmas list at the moment. Any DH members own or use one of these and if so what are the pro's, con's or alternatives?

my wife has the rebel xti vers & absolutely loves it. the camera will take awsome pix auto or you can tinker/finetune to your hearts content. so far appears to have excellent build quality. can t give you a comparaison as this is our 1st high end camera - had a canon 4 mp powershot before this
