Fast wireless broadband backers: c'mon FCC, you know it works

Source: Ars Technica
__________
The future of unlicensed wireless broadband that would operate in the same spectrum as digital television is in the Federal Communications Commission's hands after the White Spaces Coalition has left the decision of whether to retest a prototype device up to the Commission.

The Coalition submitted a prototype device to the FCC for testing in March, followed by a second device in May. At the beginning of August, the FCC reported back on its testing, and the results supported the broadcasters' position, panning a prototype device from the White Spaces Coalition because it could not reliably detect digital television signals. A couple of weeks later, Coalition member Microsoft said that it had figured out the problem: the prototype was busted. What's more, the FCC didn't bother to test the backup unit.

wtf

Motorola in on this as well...

yourlink is using a pile of unliecenced system which are due to law, limited to a specific range and power output.... if they were liecenced, they'd probably cover 3x the area.
