A-DATA Extreme Edition 1200+ 1GB Kit @ techPowerUp

Source: techPowerUp
____________
A-DATA is joining the band wagon of 1200 MHz memory with their Extreme Edition memory. Many manufacturers have displayed memory at these speeds at Computex this year. The kits are available in 1 or 2 GB variants and come with the new, cleaner heatspreader. This Extreme Edition memory is the first to manage 1200 MHz at default voltage with no problems at all.

well it would be nice if the 2GB kit also managed to run DDR2 1200MHz at 1.8V and on other boards as well.
or it would be even more nicer if A-DATA can actually spec it for DDR2 1200MHz at 1.8V, then i like to try it since the prices is very reasonable.

With the advent of DDR3 sites reviewing memory are going to have to make topic titles more clear on what level of DDR they are dealing with for the less tech-savvy. Other than that nice review and some pretty damned quick Ram.

i usually won't read any product reviews into the details, but the Conclusion page,
what is attractive about this product is the "1200 MHz out of the box at default voltage of 1.8V",
then the next is the prices of this product and the lifetime warranty (some older A-DATA memory didn't get lifetime warranty before).
and they also mentioned that that is running at CL5-5-5-15.
even though the memory modules only has a small overclock headroom left, or it could be that the maximum performance on the modules will actually be archived by using 2.3V or may be 2.35V, but it's still okay to me, i won't be needing, neither that headroom, nor the maximum performance much.
DDR2 1200 MHz is one of the sweetest spot for my overclock needs and with a P35 based motherboard i already have with me i might get PL4 by default when running that.

and for that, it's also means if i want to run the modules at a bit lower speed, like 1110 MHz or so, i will still be and can running it at 1.8V,
so with the board and a processor that by default have 1333MHz FSB when i run the system at default clock (the FSB is not overclocked) and the memory multi by 3.33x,
i might even get PL3 by default.

on top of that, as i understand, the memory modules also comes with EPP.
EPP won't be needed for most users who uses a motherboard platform that by defualt don't support EPP.
however, EPP may still help, since we may still get to know what values that the memory maker recommends configuring the module,
and as one can assume, that the recommended settings values normally has already been tested by the maker's during manufacturing of the product.
