I really thought that heatpipe CPU cooling technology had pretty much reached as far as the current
PC standards would allow. Three pipes are about as much as you can cram into a CPU heatsink, and a radiator that will support a 120mm fan is as large as most cases will accommodate. Generally, the coolers are copper, aluminum, or a combination of the two, as are the
heatsinks themselves. Radiators are configured either parallel or perpendicular to the
motherboard…generally anyway, I saw one the other day that was at an angle to the motherboard. Some radiators support a fan on both sides.
