Microsoft Releases More Vista Reliability and Compatibility Updates

Microsoft has release another handful of updates for Windows Vista, in both 32 and 64-bit varieties. Include are several reliability and compatibility updates. Download them at the link above, as they have not yet been released through Windows Update.

Neat. Item KB941649 ought to be interesting for most Vista users.

• It extends the battery life for mobile devices.
• It improves the stability of portable computers and of desktop computers that use an uninterruptable power supply (UPS).
• It improves the reliability of Windows Vista when you open the menu of a startup application.
• It improves the stability of wireless network services.
• It shortens the startup time of Windows Vista by using a better timing structure.
• It shortens the recovery time after Windows Vista experiences a period of inactivity.
• It shortens the recovery time when you try to exit the Photos screen saver.
• It improves the stability of Windows PowerShell.
This update also resolves the following issues in Windows Vista:
• A compatibility issue that affects some third-party antivirus software applications.
• A reliability issue that occurs when a Windows Vista-based computer uses certain network driver configurations.

I installed 941649 a few days ago, after crashing explorer a few times, it recommended that update, and seemed to fix my problem.

It doesn't remove the DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS thing in x64 like some other updates do, does it?

I've resigned myself to just hitting F8 and disabling driver signing from there on every boot.

The file has v2 in it's name, so you've got to be right.

But i guess you failed to notice this was posted back in Oct 24, 2007..

There has been plenty of updates since then via windows update.
