Wi-Fi hijacking common crime
Source: PC Pro
__________ Over half of computer users have admitted to piggy-backing a wireless internet connection without permission, says a new survey. According to Sophos, Wi-Fi hijacking is generally a crime of opportunity with the majority of those surveyed having logged-on to a local network simply because it wasn't properly secured with encryption keys. "My suspicion would be be that most people don't know what they're doing," says Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos.

This goes for both people buying wireless routers, and not setting up security, which allows others to jump on, as well as users buying wireless routers, but joining their neighbors wireless not realizing they are doing so. In both cases, "....most people don't know what they're doing" pretty well sums it up.
