Why do Apple customers care so much?
Source: One More Thing Blog (News.com)
__________ The question inevitably comes up when I meet people and they learn I write about Apple for a living: "So, what's that like?" I usually answer, "It's crazy." There perhaps has never been a more interesting time to write about Apple and its growing impact on the computer, telecommunications, and music worlds. Unfortunately, it also means that I have to witness (and sometimes join) a daily descent into a pit of mudslinging. |

I enjoy using Apple computers, thats my spin, those that "hate" them or "dislike" them are very narrow minded.

![]() Suprisingly enough, that isn't as much of an issue anymore. A comparable mac/apple product now is 50 bucks cheaper to 150 bucks more hardware for hardware in the macbooks.

It's not just Mac users. It's everywhere in computers (and probably elsewhere, but I see it more in computers, where I just read a whole lot more).
It's the same with every underdog OS. There are rabid Mac users, but also rabid Linux users (I read Slashdot), and when I was an OS/2 user, they were there, too, the irrational people who would react without any proportion to totally valid observations. It's in hardware, with ATI and NVIDIA fanatics dueling it out, saying things which might have been correct, to an extent, several years ago, for some. (I mean, sure, you had glitches in a game, but not everyone had them, and it was fixed a while ago, and it's not really a good reason to hate the company.) It's in MMO's, where fans of some games can't hear a bad word said about it, and others hate a game with passion because their character was nerfed 2 years ago, at which point they quit the game, and even though they have no idea what it's like now, they'd continue to hate it forever. That's just the way some people are, sadly. |

It would be much better if people would replace phrases like "hate" or "love" with, "I'm not familiar with" or "I prefer". Really, I don't see the bit difference. A few interface things and neat tricks (on each end), but honestly, if it weren't for Windows place in gaming, I'd probably be just as likely to pick up an Apple. I also know my way around Windows much better, so its just a bit more accessable to me. But honestly, the hardware is virtually identicle now, and they all do pretty much the same things. It really is a matter of preference and price.
