In urban areas, where a phone is within walking distance ..... i don't understand why anyone would really NEED a phone, specially somone under the age of 16.... for gaud sakes, i've seen 6 year old whip out a cell phone.. and abuse the hell out of it.
and then i question the sanity of the parents when they bitch about the cell phone bill but continue to pay the bill for them.... The cell phones we had were only given when we were driving, and they were to be used under strict rules, meaning emergency, or work..... driving down miles of road without a single house in site let alone living being.. and for hours.... kinda makes having a cell for very nessary... Only reason i got a cell for myself recently was due to work, and having to have some for of contact number for at home (i currently operate without a land line...) Actually up here, it costs roughly 1/3rd as much to have a cell phone vs having a land line..... All i got is calling capabilities... no texting crap or video or internet bullshit.. I do however set my 10-4 to come on, on april 15th and shut off on october 15th.. during the which i can use the feature for quick informational calls to anyone with the feature as wel for no cost at all, for as long as i need, and it's MUCH faster.

well it's kids, kids like to play and destroy stuff if they are young kids and are not young adults yet.
i'm quite sure that many parents really want kids to use a mobile phone as a convenience for themself and their kids. and of course, parents do concern about safety of their kids. |

IMO the concern for a kids safety is WAY over the top, to the point of babing the kids into a corner where they never learn to use there heads, never learn to figure out things on thier own, expecting to get everything given to themselves.
Quite a number of the Baby Boomers are in this state already, it's vastly worse today, and getting worse every day. Signs and crap all over the place telling someone not to do something that any intelligent person should figure out... Example is warning on things like a Stove element "Warning, element becomes hot when on"..... seriously..... that's pretty rediculious.....
