Ok guys, this thread is getting very close to being closed due to the insults flying in here rather than the opinions. Can we keep the insults out of things.
I will pick up on one thing... site adverts and site opinions are unrelated. The people who organise advertising are completely different to the people who write the content. In fact they are not even in the same country, never mind office. |

Erm just because I only registered today doesnt mean I havent read the forums for a while - everyone has to register at some point.
![]() Its a free forum is it? Fair enough, but if you are so mature etc, why do you feel the need to pounce on someone in a blu-ray thread, expressing their support for their blu-ray choice (mrcairo)? No need for you to reply, in fact it was unrelated to the topic. Your first reply reeked of fanboyism (is that a word?) which you quite possibly did intentionally to stir up trouble. I'll shut up if you stop terrorising every pro sony thread...sound like a deal? |

I hope this gets in before the lock.
I bought an HD DVD player back when they had the insane sales. ($199 w/10 free movies) I went with HD DVD mainly because of the price, but also because the standard was finalized before the hardware started appearing. Sony did not bother to come out with a final standard until well after the hardware started flooding the market. Now, with profile 1.1 players they are calling it (final standard) and yet the players still aren't at the same level feature-wise as what will find on HD DVD. I think that the ethernet port is extremely important because I am one that likes web extras and the ease of updating firmware over the internet. Space is not really an advantage anymore. HD DVD has a 51GB disc (I can't say they are in production yet though) and they work with all the HD DVD players. Anyway for now I will stick with HD DVD. I don't think that this move will totally kill HD DVD. The paramount deal didn't kill Blu Ray. If Blu Ray wins that will be fine. I will still wait before purchasing a new player until they offer me one with the same features as my HD-A3 for $199. |

Also you have to remember that the is nothing wrong in defending claims (True or not) throughout this thread.Sometimes some people may need to step back just a little and read what has been said and take a little notice to the advice given out. Secondly may i politely say that you (including All) may also need to take the advice yourself.(I'm not singling you out BTW) All I'm asking is can we have some politeness back into this thread. Just saying that sony's priceing of the PS3 has probably put a lot of people off and that price is probably the biggest factor in it being the worst selling console its not that its crap its just very overpriced If i hadnt found one at a bargain price i wouldnt have bought one and i do believe that if you put a 360 and a PS3 for sale at roughly the same price the average Joe would tend towards the Ps3 btw i have never played MGS4 ![]() Also i do have an old Xbox , Windows Xp and Vista an MS optical mouse so please dont think i have a downer on MS i think they release some good stuff and i do think the 360 is a stunning bit of kit ......... i just prefered the Bluray built in ready no need for an add on to play Hi Def films just ready out of the box PS3

if i were to preffer.. the BR has a longer life ahead of itself.. where as HD-DVD will likely die a hell of alot sooner..
If i had my way, both formats would get the boot and a newer, more capable, higher capacity format would be the option.

The only real advantage Bluray has going for it, is there are more people able to play the movies (via PS3) and it has much larger storage capacities.
My personal preference is most definitely Bluray. |

The sooner this "war" ends the better, no matter who wins. They are both obsolete formats anyway.
