As much as I hate the name, they run Indian business. They love anything Tata there and they make everything, its kinda like LG. But having such an affordable car is a bad thing for the environment and traffic

I've been hearing all about this on the news, reading it, etc. I understand that a lot of people feel its bad for the environment.
Here's my beef though: What gives western society the right to drive around in Hummers, Escalades, and all our other vehicles, polluting the atmosphere. Then we whine and say how much of a catastrophe it is that the Indians are getting a low-cost car that will enable some more of their people to drive. I think the current figures were about 1 in a 1000, have a car. I'd be surprised if the North American number was less than one in twenty. Once again, I understand there is a definite environmental impact from all this - but what gives the western world the right to consume all we do and then complain about the rest of the world starting to use resources?
