DDR3 system memory has been a reality for some months now. There are many motherboards on the market designed for it, with new DDR3 memory modules being released monthly. So, you'd think that DDR2 memory would be considered obsolete. But, the hardware manufacturers are still designing chipsets and motherboards for use with DDR2 memory, so it isn't dead quite yet.
