DVI appears to be losing to HDMI and DisplayPort
Source: BetaNews
_________ While the resolution of the high-def disc format war may end up with few consumers winning, if any, another battle may have bigger consequences: It's about high-bandwidth digital interfaces for connecting PCs, consoles, and displays. This battle pits the old-guard DVI (digital visual interface) against newer rivals HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) and DisplayPort in the industry race for connecting PCs and other devices over high bandwidth networks. |

display port opens up the options considerably over the already bandwidth lacking option of dvi..
*neg rep states wrong* read here first Digital Visual Interface - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia then here for High-Definition Multimedia Interface - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and finally here DisplayPort - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Then do a little research and volla.... the DVI port is already at it's bandwidth capable end without having to break the connection in order to make it so it's fastly more capable of even higher resolutions. While with Displayport/hdmi, the ports are still considered new.. hdmi may start hitting it's peak here soon.. but the display port itself is likely to take the resolution up much further without to much complications with the connection itself.... Initial bandwidth is 10.8gb/s.... but that's just for a start....
