FUD.

But the technological answer is of course pure electricity, and it has been a viable solution for decades in some sectors. More widely useable in combination with a secondary combustion engine using any type of fuel. Nothing is worse environmentally than fossile fuels produced far away from the end user. Add to that the economical and political downsides to being dependant of a far off energy source.
