System Specs

8800GT 1GB vs. 8800GTS

Last year nVidia came up with a new G92 GPU core and two new graphic cards based on it - the 8800GT and the 8800GTS. The names are confusing to say the least as there were already two 8800GTS models with differing memory configurations. Unlike normally in nVidia's naming policy, the new GT is faster than the old GTS in most tests and the new GTS is supposed to sit somewhere between the old GTX and Ultra. Despite its top-of-the-range performance, the GTS is rather cheap, which makes it a tempting choice for everyone looking for a new graphics card.

Earlier this year we took a closer look at the XFX 8800GT 512MB and found out that it offered great performance and value for the money. This time we have two new G92-based cards to be tested, XFX 8800GTS Alpha Dog Edition and Gainward Bliss 1024 MB Golden Sample.
