Columbia University professor could trigger a Blu-ray injunction
With a few victories already under her belt, a celebrated physicist seeks to leverage those wins in a contest to reclaim her legacy. The other side of the story is that everything with a blue laser diode in it has just come under suspicion.
A fifty-six-year veteran physicist who is currently Columbia University's Howe Professor Emerita of Materials Science and Engineering, will have her patent infringement case heard by the US International Trade Commission. If Judge Paul J. Luckern concurs, an injunction could be placed on the import of all electronics containing blue-laser diodes manufactured using a certain patented process. __________ Source: BetaNews |

very interesting timing starting this case up, had to have known the patent was being infringed on (if it is) for a while now. Why not say something before the direct competition left the market? So your patent was the proven money maker!? Seriously though, shouldn't this have been brought about much earlier, like when production of the actual laser started? Sure, the Rothschilds need more money any way so WTF?

I would have to agree with you that I bet not only this time, but most of the time they wait and see how it does. Why not wait and see and then hope to get more money out of the deal! |

he is a she, Gertrude F. Neumark Rothschild. It's all about getting the biggest bucks possible. She will be paid, in someway or another, the timing just gives her all the leverage.

Well not only Sony and the entire BDA, but Toshiba with HD-DVD also uses the blue laser diode tech etc.

I'm rooting for the 'little old granny'
![]() ![]() ![]() On a more serious note, Sony and the others are in deep doo doo. It's not like she just popped up out of nowhere. She also sued two other companies in 2002, one of which settled out of court in 2006. Now if you think Sony and the others weren't aware of that, I have a bridge I'd like to talk to you about. Why do I get the picture of Sony as Sylvester. and the good Professor, as the greyhaired granny in an old-fashioned dress, opening a can of whupp-ass on him with her broom?
