Phil Hester of AMD Resigns from CTO Position
"AMD is truly at a historic lowpoint, and it seems that it is due to a bad combination of technology, competition, and perhaps some internal complacency. Phil was brought in as CTO at AMD's pinnacle, and he has presided over that position from that point to the low valley we now see the company. Is he a fall guy? Was it his decisions that led them on the road to here? Or were there thoughts of cutting salaries of these upper management individuals, and he simply felt that it was not in his best interest to stay and take the cut? Hard to say."

i really hope amd makes some sort of comeback within the next year or intel isnt going to have any reason to continue to pour as much $$ into cpu/chipset development. though i dont think they wil make the same mistake with 'complacency' they did before. lol.
this also applies to the ati div vs nv. i can see price wars going away too, in fact, unless intel decides to price amd out of business i think the only real price drops we r going to see from intel is when they intro a new architecture. amd really cant afford to drop their prices much more, if at all.

It's a three company war as far as video and chipsets go. We only need two. Without AMD in the mix we'd still have nvidia and Intel in those markets. If AMD dropped out completely though, we'd be down to only one good PC processor creator.
Either way, I like AMD, I want it to stick around.
