Intel slashes desktop, server processor prices
Barely two weeks after the release of AMD's first B3 Phenom processors, Intel has reacted by applying rather substantial price cuts to a cross-section of its desktop and server processors. The cuts apply to both 45nm and 65nm offerings, and they cover 18 CPUs from the Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Duo, Pentium, Celeron, and Xeon lineups.

Some serious slashes there, especially the $530 to $266 - WOW!
Could also be a tough benchmark battle between: E8300, 2.83GHz, 6MB cache, 1333FSB, $163 and E6850, 3.0 Ghz, 4MB cache, 1333FSB, $183 Can one small step of clock speed, make up for 2MB less cache and 20$ more on the price, or is the E8300 the top dog and cheaper too?
