Various AMD Phenom X3 8750: Entering the Triple-Core Era Reviews
Intel has dominated the desktop processor market for a long time. Being they are such a huge giant, it is not easy for any company to fight against them. It is like “David vs. Galiath” and AMD is only remaining player hanging in there to fight against the giant as Via and others provide very little impact anymore.
____________ Review: Bjorn3D It was WAAAAYYYY back in September of 2007 that AMD first posted a press release about the pending release of the first triple-core processors based on the AMD Phenom brand. Of course we all know the story about the Phenom CPU release, its TLB problem that weighed it down and the delay of the revised B3 stepping cores that fixed the major errors that we reviewed just last month. Those steps finally out of the way AMD has given the go-ahead to release the Phenom X3 series of triple-core processors to the masses. ____________ Review: PC Perspective When AMD first announced plans to introduce triple-core processors back in September of last year, reaction to the news was mixed. Some felt that AMD was simply planning to pass off partially functional Phenom X4 processors as triple-core products, making lemonade from lemons if you will. Others thought it was a good way for AMD to increase bottom line profits, getting more usable die from a single silicon wafer and mitigating yield loss. We were somewhat perplexed by the first reaction. This is an age-old strategy in the semiconductor space and after all, the graphics guys have been selling GPUs with non-functional units for years. AMD was simply borrowing a play from ATI's playbook. _____________ Review: Hothardware AMD Company expands the line-up of their processors on K10 micro-architecture. Now besides quad-core Phenom X4 they will also offer triple-core Phenom X3. Let’s see if AMD managed to design a successful solution this time without switching to new production process. _____________ Review: Xbit-Labs Last edited by MIG-31; Apr 23, 2008 at 11:57 AM. |
