Home theater PCs have evolved from devices which were built to record TV, back before the DVR was king of time shifting, to the multipurpose digital media buckets and family room connectivity devices they are today. In some respects, that makes interacting with the living room PC more problematic than in the past. If you just use the standard 10-foot UI, such as the one in Windows Media Center, then you can easily navigate using a remote control.
