Apple releases OS X 10.5.3, users report problems

The update to Apple's operating system fixes a multitude of its security vulnerabilities, but some users are reporting issues with graphics and Adobe CS3 after upgrading.

Along with fixing issues with incorrect fonts, video and audio playback, and wireless network connectivity, at least two dozen security issues were patched.

Lately every time that MS or Apple releases a new OS or SP, it's been a ton of issues. I don't know why people update without just waiting a few days for these things shake out.

I agree, BUT without people testing it how would the problems be noticed?

You have a point, but isn't that what QA is supposed to do? I actually feel MS has more of a free pass than Apple since MacOS is on a closed set of HW, but MS has to support a huge number of combos.

On the other hand, the culprits at making users be beta testers: gaming software. You can tell from the number of patches ... never see that number in productivity software.

i updated pretty quickly to 10.5.3 just so I could use the 10.5 certified version of Pro Tools on my system released a day or so after 10.5.3 - the previous version was only designed for 10.4 and had "issues"

however I haven't noticed any issues in normal usage
