Comcast High-Usage Throttling Test to Begin

You'll recall earlier I wrote about Comcast's new collaboration with BitTorrent. More interesting to me however, was that in that same statement Comcast also indicated they were changing their policy on throttling. Rather than throttling P2P transfers, they were planning on throttling high-usage customers - and not just P2P, but all their traffic.

Better to have Comcast than have Time Warner road runner... They are in testing for capping users to 40gigs a month and if you go over its $1 for every gig.

Time Warner to Try Bandwidth Caps, $1/GB Overage Fees - InsideTech.com

Mediacom is doing pretty much the samething here in IL. I was testing speeds @ 32mbs down at some points. Normal is about 7-10. Seems the employees are testing this out right now.

Well as long as you get a data counter it might not be so bad, BUT if it means switching to DSL from AT&T or whoever else that does not do this I think I just might!

Cheaper, about the same speed if not faster now since all the people who use cable.

Count yourself lucky. I get charged 2 cents/MB over my 30gig allowance (that's $20 a gig btw)
