Ballmer becomes lone voice at Microsoft's helm

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Steve Ballmer has been CEO at Microsoft Corp for eight years, but he will finally get to move into the corner office vacated by Bill Gates, the college friend who brought him to the company nearly three decades ago.

The pressure of leading the world's largest software maker will only escalate in the wake of a bungled attempt to acquire Yahoo Inc, a move that forced the Web pioneer into the waiting arms of Microsoft's archrival, Google Inc.

They need to forget Yahoo and focus on Apple.

They should have destroyed them years ago, but since they didn't they now have to focus on getting an OS that is as good in the mass general public eyes!

IMO Vista rocks lol

to bad the public does not agree. After Sp1 everything just fly's!

NPR had an interesting point. Compare the stock performance of Microsoft when Gates was in charge vs. Ballmer. Course, Google wasn't around when Gates was in charge.
