You know the drill: you’ve been using your Windows computer for a while when things start to go wrong. Your programs slow down, or you start getting inexplicable error messages. Your cursor lags, or when you move windows around they leave droppings on the screen. It’s that time again. Time to reboot.

Ever wonder why that happens? The answer may have been revealed in a 2003 memo from Bill Gates, who retired from Microsoft on Friday.

Funny story, not much explaining though as to why you have to reboot but only why you still have to.

Funny, but I'm not sure how true it is ever since Windows 2000.

i just had windows vista running on this machine for a month and a half.. running a number of IE windows/media players (including powerDVD at random intervals running br/HD content)/ Lineage II (crash fest game of the years) and countless of duties.

the machine has YET to be restarted and it's still out performing windows xp in every measure.

Only reason i've ever seen anyone need to reboot is due to operators fault or poor computer design (AKA compaq/toshiba/dell...etc....)
