ECS is one of those companies that almost every enthusiast knows about – and that’s mostly due to their slightly mired past. From the dark days at the mythical dawn of computing, ECS has always focused on creating motherboards with the capability to handle everything thrown at them, as well as keeping up with the joneses in the process. Thing is, this was a formula that took a few years to get right. I’m sure that if you look out there, the remnants of forums dedicated to tweaking and modifying some of the old hybrid motherboards featuring Socket 462 still exist – ECS’ first real claim to fame, a motherboard, that with enough modification was stable, and capable of handling almost any CPU.
