It's nearly 40 years old but one leading research company says the days of the computer mouse are numbered. A Gartner analyst predicts the demise of the computer mouse in the next three to five years.

easy solution would be a touchpad and you lead it with your finger
but a mouse is comfortable because you rest your hand on it
moving your finger around means the rest of your hand is off the table... thus taking more energy and causing more injuries

I don't doubt the mouse's days are limited, but I would certainly say within the next three to five years it's unlikely. If anyone has tried such devices as mentioned in the article, they know that stuff has a LONGGG way to come before they are applicable and affordable.

I don't know if it's possible to make and if it would work well but it would be nice to have a mouse cursor controlled by where you look on the screen. It probably already exists...

There is something like that for use with handycap people, all done by tracking eye movement. I think it involves very specialized software, it's not actually doing mouse duty per say, but the technology is there.

I rather if mouses stick around, I dont need a work out just to use a new way of clicking. If I wanna woke out, i'd use my wii.
