Nvidia's Pixie demo now runs on ATI cards

THE PIXIE Nvidia calls Dawn will now run on any ATI DX9 video card, according to a report on Rage3D.
The web site said that you can download an OpenGL wrapper that is likely to infuriate Nvidia because Dawn is regarded as a peculiarly Nvidia phenomenon.

The site said the OpenGL wrapper was sent to it anonymously by a bunch of MIT engineering students.

The site has rested it and you can download it from there.

As Rage3D says, it was very impressed with the GeForce FX Dawn demos, but was disappointed it wouldn't run on ATI hardware.

Well now it can, and you can download it and read more, here.

Guys, you can download the nude patch here - 33 kb (Autor & idea: Corak, Uttar). Not sure if it'll work though.

you know there is no need for that patch. if you want to run her nude just rename the exe file in the bin folder. from mr. b himself, "View" mode without wings rename fairy.exe to 3dmark03.exe "View" mode with wings rename fairy.exe to quake3.exe Where "view" mode = nude mode. No need for a patch just rename the exe.

The patch is easier. Double-click to enable, double click to disable.

but the patch eliminates all background graphics which are kind of nice. rather than just a limb and some nekid fairy on it

If you're using a naked patch...chances are you don't care about the background.

ati's demos will not work on nvida cards and have be prgramed to detect what video card your useing then if it not cartain ati cards it will not run.... I know i tried any ati hacks out there ? no why not?

but yet here 95% of the time it ati users are bashing nvida users for things that have allways been since both comanys started....

just like intel is huge comaperd to amd ... nvida is huge when compaired to ati

people so easly forget that nvida whooped all over ati for years... but yes times change ... but then why does nvida still have 54% of the video card market? leaveing ati/sis/s3 and a dozen other comanys to share the other 46%

i go agenst the wind it my nature ...... I rember arguring about the new radions when they were first released (i own one still) to the geforce users. but this is constant ther is at lest one post / thread every day about how ati is better than nvidia ... we mights as well put a nvida sux banner on the top of every page....

ati users bash nvida for the memory they used on the fx ... ati looks into useing the same kinda memory on thier new cards .. yet not a word is utterd. why?

it seem ati can never do anthing wong in manys eyes

this is very disturbing to me

Because the nvidia hardware obviously cant cope with the commands ati are using or the nvidia modding community cant be bothered.

If you are referring to Nvidia "cheating" in benchmarks this bothers me, or Nvidia releasing lower IQ sets to big sites like the 42.67 to get higher scores, possibly fake, should this be ignored because you or other people want to ignore this fact? seems like you are confusing people with "not having a life", with people who want to expose possibly falsified scores to increase sales for products which possibly are not as fast as the manufacturer is claiming. I would be exposing any company who would make a practise of this.

when was this? you mean the quake/quack articles? that was posted everywhere from Rage3d to sites in the far east, and rightly so. are you trying to justify Nvidia and the current scandals with something that happened a long time ago? not sure of the logic you base on that Neon at all.

ATi "people" arent bashing nvidia, Nvidia drivers in the past couldnt make WHQL because they released alot of sets with intentionally lower IQ and rendering settings to increase benchmarking. If you are going to "blame" anyone for this I would "blame" Futuremark, as they are the ones who banned these sets from uploading scores to the orb.

What have ATI done recently that is "wrong" exactly. have they released driver sets with low IQ to increase benchmarks? have they released Nforce IDE drivers which dont work with IDE rom drives detecting them as SCSI? then they fix them and they now have a 10-25% performance drop? Do they release hardware that sounds like a lawnmower?

I dont think anyone forgets the past, and I really think you need to sit back and think about your reasoning behind "size" meaning "better" or a "better product". Company size has nothing to do with relation of a good piece or hardware or product. and as you well know, companies can take a fall very soon. Nothing in life ever stays the same indefinately.

I will not put an nvidia "sucks" banner on the top of driverheaven, as they dont suck. Their practices at the minute might suck, but they produce good hardware, as the new FX is testiment to that. once we work out in fact how much is actual hardware power and what is being faked in drivers that is. Nvidia dont make any input on most sites or forums, as believe me ive tried, and quite frankly my honest opinion which ive never stated publically is ........ they dont care less.

You are very pro nvidia and anti ati, and there is nothing wrong with that at all. but I think you need to take some time to look over your posts across Driverheaven and to actually see if you are making much sense Neon. because unfortunately the way I see it atm, is that you are speaking from your heart from a time when nvidia where a different company.

but who knows perhaps the FX5900 will put them back on the map for being able to make good quality hardware and establish them as a formidable opponent to ATI. I hope so. a competitive marketplace is good, good for us, the consumer.

When I try and run the demo - it comes back with "Dawn has encountered a problem and needs to close" dialog. Anybody else had this problem? I have a Sapphire Radeon 9700Pro with the latest catalyst. I've also extracted the opengl32.dll in the right place as instructed. help please!
