Next-generation FireWire finalized, but USB 3.0 will be faster
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) recently approved IEEE 1394-2008, a faster version of the standard known to most simply as FireWire and used for connecting PCs with digital video devices or external hard drives.

if i recall correctly..
i don't recall ever seeing that USB2.0 beating out firewire 2.0 it was always mentioned that while usb2.0 was 480mbps that it was only faster then firewire 1.0 @ 400mbps. firewire 2.0 blew usb 2.0 out of the water.. And so far, i would have to agree that with the Firewire 1.0 vs usb 2.0 ... the 2.0 usb model seems to sustain transfer speeds just as effectively....
