"I am Rich," the $1,000 iPhone App

Who decides which apps go up --- and stay up --- on the App Store? After all, something pretty useful like NetShare gets dropped from the App Store a couple of times (all right, all right, I know AT&T wouldn't like it), while something totally frivolous like this app gets posted?

A couple of interviews, one looking at what could happen to the quality of information when everyone thinks they are a content provider (web 2.0).

The other fearing stagnation if a single gatekeeper (such as Apple) is in a position to dictate what reaches their platform.

That is what is so good about the PC, nobody controls the platform, with Linux, even Microsoft are out of the loop.

When the Iphone comes under pressure from a new breed of touchscreen mobiles, maybe Apple will have to open up application loading, before the app store is seen as a curse.
