UK market gets shafted with 4870 X2 prices
For those of you who haven't seen, today we published our review of the 4870 X2 over here. Interestingly we were told that the card would retail in the UK for around the £300-£320 mark.
Today we find out that stores like Overclockers are selling the cards for around the £390-£400 mark. If you compare the USA prices of $549, this roughly translates that the UK punters are paying around $760 for a brand new 4870 X2 video card. Obviously people living in the UK expect to pay a little extra, after all its not called "rip off Britain" for nothing, however this time i think the market differentials are just too great. Where can they justify this extra cost? retailer markups perhaps? |

Can't say I am surprised. Be glad that they don't follow the usual $1=£1 rate.
I say in the EU and perhaps more than other places the UK, with each computer hardware sold they should at least take you out to dinner. I just checked for the card in Greece but nothing is out yet. The regular 4870 is from 220-240 euros. About £190 I believe... Ah, wait, I found one of the cards for sale here in Greece, for 449 euros=£351. If I remember correctly, the 8800GTX was more expensive when first released, at least here.
