Universal Laser Systems, Inc., of Scottsdale, Arizona is now shipping production units of the new VersaLaser(TM).
VersaLaser(TM) is a desktop computer peripheral that transforms images or drawings on a computer screen into real items made out of an amazing variety of materials -- wood, plastic, fabric, paper, glass, leather, stone, ceramic, rubber -- and it's as easy to use as a desktop printer.
Using a high power laser and a USB connection to a computer running Windows XP and off-the-shelf drawing or CAD software a VersaLaser(TM) can cut through, scribe into, engrave text, graphics and photographs or permanently mark a wide variety of materials.
Setup is similar to a printer but instead, materials are placed onto a flat table inside the VersaLaser(TM) under a clear top cover. Instead of selecting a paper stock like one would with a common printer, the material type is selected in the print driver provided.
