Asus hd4870 x2

AMD recently introduced the HD 4870 and it certainly made their competition revise their pricing immediately. While it’s AMD’s top-of-the-line GPU, lately AMD has been focusing more on lesser priced products that deliver excellent value for performance. But they obviously wish to compete in the fastest graphics card category and for that, they’ve been using dual GPU based cards.

Interesting. The card seems slower than the one reviewed here (DH).
For example Crysis 1920x1200 there 28, here at 1920x1200 39.

Different system or different drivers issue or something else?

I definitely prefer how the DH review is written and presented, but I have to admit the addition of the tables with % difference stated is very helpful to me.

Different test section, Crysis frame rates vary enormously.
I ran some detailed tests with Crysis on my X2.

I'm glad to see GRiD wasn't included in this review, too many sites review it and don't make enough of a deal that it is completely irrelevant for this card. Crossfire only displays every other rendered frame, so if you're pulling 80fps you actually see 40. Consequently anything less than 70fps is laggy, given that it's a racing title, which is poor - this means that with the 4870X2 you still can't play the game at 2560 with AA, you need a GTX280 for that.

Some Quad core X2 Crysis results:

Paradise Lost (beginning)
1920x1200: 54-60
1920x1200 4x: 31-35
2560x1600: 34-37
2560x1600 4x: 16-20

Reckoning (Walker)
1920x1200: 27-40
1920x1200 4x: 15-28
2560x1600: 21-28
2560x1600 4x: 12-19

Reckoning (Final scene)
1920x1200: 28-45
1920x1200 4x: 19-28
2560x1600: 26-45
2560x1600 4x: 17-24

Core (Chamber)
1920x1200: 46-56
1920x1200 4x: 26-36
2560x1600: 33-41
2560x1600 4x: 15-21

That's an official 'Playable' sticker on Crysis all High at 2560x1600. Not with AA, mind you, but given Crysis' slightly half-hearted AA, no great loss.
