It seems pretty cool. They've taken lots of features from opera but I wish they'd get mouse gestures!

I'm using it now and it's not bad at all, now they just need to get some extensions and plug-ins for this thing and maybe some themes as well.

I saw people on other forums complaining about apparent JavaScript problems and slowness with some pages (such as Facebook). Also, the EULA states that Google keeps the right to automatically install updates and upgrades without the user's consent.

I hope it goes well, but I can't say I have any interest in it. The only feature that I might like is the one about having not the whole browser crash but only the tab that caused the problem, but how this actualy works is to be seen.
Well, not by me, I am happy with Opera.

To be fair, their objective was to make the browser as simple to use as possible and manual updating would mean that some users would be at risk of security problems. Still it would be nice if you could switch it off.

In order to fix the java related issues, you HAVE to be running Java 6 release 10. This will take care of any Java not loading correctly. |

Yeah, there are people who need to be force-fed the updates, but for myself, I really prefer the FF style: "Would you like to update?", *click*, done, if that's not simple enough for some users, than they've got bigger problems in life than understanding "unnecessary confusing messages" from their browser (and FF3 is on auto-update by default, if I'm not wrong, but it can be switched to anything else). Also, that kind of EULA really is scary, it makes provisions for a lot of things such as installing "browsing habits monitor" in order to "find out what should be the focus in future development".
And if you're not worried yet, Google has just founded the Fourth Reich by giving Germany Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg and Danmark: ![]() It's a part of their online comic "How Chrome Cures Cancer" and can be found on page 13. EDIT: JS and Java are two separate things, each browser has its own built in implementation of JS. |

Go Denmark!
![]() Using it now as my primary browser, just to give a real go and so far I'm impressed. They managed to take some of the best features from Ie8, firefox and Opera, and mix it with some new clever thought out features. Though I'm missing mouse gestures and bookmark sync a lot and some other small things, so I doubt I'm going to use it as my primary browser for more then a few days, but it's very polished for a beta, no doubt. |

Anyone reckon it will ever leave beta. After all gmail is still in beta after all these years.

Sure it will leave beta eventually. I wouldn't expect it to leave the beta title anytime soon though but the quicker the better so people actually get serious and start making some nice extensions and plug-ins for it.

First time I've been impressed by the first experience with a "new browser". The DNS prefetching is certainly helping to speed things up and the interface shows good taste. Now they just have some relatively minor technicalities to fix and settings to add before it's ready for release I think. By then the only real advantage for Firefox might be a handful of very popular plugins.

I am using it and love it so far.
I might be an idiot, but can't figure out how you create a book mark? Scrolling is like super ultra fast! Very nice ![]() I found the spot where they were imported from firefox, but in Chrome where do I make a new one? |

Clicking the little star icon on the left of the allmighty "Omnibox" creates a bookmark.
