Windows 7: Can Microsoft get boot time to under 15 seconds?

When Microsoft was developing Vista, or Longhorn, as it was known way back when, company officials were fond of making promises about ways that Microsoft would improve on Windows XP with its next-generation Windows release.

If they can get boot time to 15 seconds or less I will be in line waiting for Windows 7 regardless of how it is lol

Man I hate waiting when I restart lol.

Why is the boot time so important? How many times per day do you find yourself booting up windows? Does it really matter if it is 15 seconds or 1 min? I never understood this thing.

It does matter to me lol.

When I restart or whatever I don't like to wait. I just hate waiting for the OS to load.

The CPU and the way the computer is built can do things so fast, but when it comes to loading up the OS it always takes so long and I don't understand why lol.

i think my boot times are sub 25 seconds

Now dang it. Why do they want to speed up boot time?

I use that 'extra time' to go fix a cup of coffee and/or a snack.

Dang MS...always screwing up a prefectly good way of doing things

I don't care. I press the power button in the morning and by the time i finish in the bathroom, get a cup of coffee, take care of the pet, change out of my transformers pjs, the computer is booted. Make that prefetch-booted.
At night, when i press shutdown, by the time i ready my transformers pjs, the computer is off. Shutdown is extremely fast

The only time it does suck is when you do maintenance (display driver updates, sound driver updates, directx updates, windows updates, office updates, firefox updates, apple updates, anti-virus updates, java updates, adobe updates, winamp updates, divx updates, nero updates... ahem, you get the idea, and have to reboot 83 times. I take that time to iron my transformers pjs.
