The main problem with Windows Vista

The New York Times published an article today about Windows Vista that included this: "The main problem with Vista, Microsoft said, was that given the delays, uncertainty and significant changes in the software, the rest of the industry was not ready when Vista finally arrived."

yep
Vista by itself is great. Add crap hardward and poof... problems happen.
That's because nVidia drivers suck, Logitech hates its users and low-profile hardware companies don't have the ressources to create GOOD drivers ...

people complain about Vista drivers... well when linux came out you couldn't exactly find the right drivers either now could you?

it's also quite a shame CNET NEWS doesn't proof-read their articles ... spelling was bad.

Isn't anyone finished with beating Vista up yet?

I mean, what kind of article are they publishing?

This is yeterday's news. This is boring. This is unwarranted and really, out of date and out of place.

Hey, there is nothing like boosting your ego more and showing you have a huge e-penis (or ipenis if you go that way) than bashing Vista for other people's problems. (hardware and software not designed for Vista).

Vista is just an operating system, but it's new to me when it was released to beta and since it's free for beta testing it, tried it, it works, it became better and better,
then RC builds during the final stage before RTM became even more better, then it was not too expensive to buy for the OEM versions, i bought one copy of it and liked it, later bought more for all new build myself computers. it's old now, nothing less nothing more. Don't like it don't use it.

Given the public beta, and can you remember any other MS OS which had one, it is amazing how poorly finished everything was, though some last minute changing of the rules had something to do with it, for instance, tying Aero glass to the new driver model, and ruling out the 915 chipset, and several other restrictions in compatibility compared to the beta.

The goalposts were constantly moving, which possibly explains why the beta and RC phase did not deliver the benefits that should have been possible.
