7 days with Google Chrome
When Google Chrome was released a week ago, I bravely volunteered to use the browser exclusively for the next seven days. That means no Firefox, no IE, no Opera, only Chrome, with no exceptions. I was fully expecting a week of frustrations, incompatibilities, and annoyances. I was ready to criticize all of the fatal flaws that were sure to turn up. I am happy to say that I was wrong. Google Chrome passes the full-time use test with flying colors.

* Facebook doesn't work. You can't use it without clicking on anything as it doesn't register clicks nor open prompts inside the web page.
* Scrolling on flash pages such as youtube sucks if you go down first then back up. * Fullscreen and then restoring back with flash videos(again such as youtube videos) hangs for 5 or more seconds. I still need ff3 for the first problem but otherwise I'm satisfied. Would be very cool to get this to my Acer AA1 mini-laptop.

Using Chrome nightly build aka as Chromium on my primary pc and the normal Chrome on my laptop still, it's been pretty good so far. But when Firefox 3.1 Beta 1 is out, which has the new javascript engine tracemonkey, I'm changing.

I'm missing Adblock, and the Privoxy solution would fix that if I could make the "blocked" text go away. The trick with putting Adblock into the bookmarks toolbar didn't stop ads. I wouldn't mind seeing the Greasemonkey scripting work a little better either. Shortcuts were a pain.
At this point I'm not feeling compelled to give up FF.

I had 3 Chrome windows open, each with multiple tabs. One of the tabs locked up and crashed, and it took down all 3 browser windows along with the tabs.
At least if Firefox 3 crashes it offers to reload all the pages you had opened previously. Chrome offered nothing after the crash. |

wasnt the whole point of chrome that it loaded each "tab" into an individual program? I thought if a site crashed it just took that exe with it, not all the rest?

Well it's still beta
![]() I had a crash in one tab, which didn't take down the others. I also had a crash which took down all of them. The process manger and individual tabs are a great idea, but offcurse need some work. |
