Microsoft to drop support for Office 2003 SP2
Microsoft Corp. warned users yesterday that it will drop support for Office 2003 Service Pack 2 in three weeks, and it urged them to upgrade to a newer service pack that was involved in a dust-up earlier this year over blocked file formats.

Well that's fine, but who really has issues with Office?
I mean I really never update it and it has always worked for me. I am using 2007 now and am up to date! |

Well I hated it at first because they changed everything around.
I was not willing to give it a chance up until a little bit ago and am very happy I did! Once you spend a few days on it you find that its just easier to use. Everything is right there in easy to find tabs. Most of the pop up menu's and what not are still the same as 2003 so adjusting only takes a little while. If you use it i am sure you will like it. |

um... so SP2 isn't supported.... that just means that they want everyone to use office 2003 SP3 and only support for it will be provided.

Seeing as how a lot of ISPs are starting to use more secured POP3/SMTP connections SP3 is a must if you are using Outlook 2003 as it has a security update that ISPs require in order for you to send email. Rogers Internet, for instance requires it. It has to do with including some sort of security header into the email that their servers scan for, and it's used to prove that the email came from where it says it came from, and not from someone who just dumped the the email to the server directly (traditional spammer tactic to hide the originating server). It also allows them to trace back spam that is reported to them from other ISPs.
