Rambus shares rocket after class action falls

SHARE PRICES in memory IP firm Rambus sky rocketed by nearly $2 after the firm said a Californian court had dismissed a shareholder complaint against the firm.
The shareholder's law suit centred around allegations concerning the JEDEC standards body, and consolidated a heap of class actions from other individuals.

The court dismissed the shareholder suit "with prejudice", but the implications of the case are bigger than at first appears.

Currently Rambus is engaged in a marathon court case with the Federal Trade Commission, expected to continue for weeks yet, in which the FTC also rests much of its evidence on alleged wrongdoings between RMBS and the JEDEC committee.

If Rambus continues to beat off the litigation against it, Dramurai who refused to license DDR and SDRAM technology might find themselves facing a very stiff invoice indeed.

At press time, RMBS share price was up by nine per cent to stand at $17.92.
