Since the old thread apparently got too big (posting in it is not working very well), you can use this thread. Same rules as the other thread:
The big countdown is on to our 1st Birthday on Driverheaven ! Now, I have another amazing competition for our birthday ......... win an Amazing Radeon 9800 pro courtesy of ATI Canada, special thanks again to Terry Makedon for setting this all up for our birthday ! No point in me posting information about this amazing card, ill let you read for yourself here and read some reviews here. I also did a review on this card myself a while ago here. The competition rules are simple, and differ slightly from the previous competitions. Firstly you have to be a member, with a minimum of 10 posts, and to enter Just post "I love ATI" in the thread!. thats it, pretty simple eh? not too taxing ! Click view article comments to enter ! Only one entry per person please, multiple entries will be disqualified along with the person and IP. Competition ends 31st May and ill draw the winner at random...... the card will be sent by ATI to the lucky winner! |

Well I don't have 10 posts but i think I'll do better than the other contenders...
I've been an Apple die-hard for about 14 years. In that time I owned quite a few Mac's that either came eith a ATI videocard or an ATI chip on-board. All this time I've been quite jealous on my PC friends who had Nvidia cards in their PC's, allways about double the framerates I got on my "million dollar" "high end" Mac. So finally came the day Apple shipped a Mac with a Nvidia board, YES!!! I had a Sony F500 at that time and the first thing I noticed was that Trinitron was no longer the colorfull screen I was used to. I blamed it at beta drivers at first but lurking in quite a few forums I found out that 2D and beautifull colors were not a "Nvidia-thang". Raw power was all of a sudden not that important anymore. Being a Mac user I was clearly "beauty-focussed". A Nvidia card certainly was'nt any good for me in a Mac, surfing gave me an headache and that on a Sony F500 and games looked like "shyte"...So, Apple came with the QuickSilver G4, a very noisy system... That's when it struck me, why try to make the Mac a great gaming system and a QUIET system and not go the easy way and get me a PC. I never hesitated a single moment, 2D was important and color-quality. Nvidia and Sony Trinitron kinda sucked when compared to the ATI/Trinitron-Combo, I knew that... Silly fool I was I bought the fastest there was on the market that day, a GigaByte 8iHXP with 1GB of 1066 mem and a ....Nvidia TI4600. Switching from Mac to PC I wanted the fastest I could get... I bought a Sony F520 just before I got the PC and didn't see any real difference compared to the F500. Bummer, spending all that hard-earned cash and gain "no-thing"... Then, the lurker I am, I saw the light, read a lot about Catalyst drivers and ATI doing a good thing, building great drivers... Wow, that was something different that I was used to read about ATI (I allways blamed ATI for the low frames-p.s. I got on Mac's) and their driver development. So I went out and bought me a 9700Pro and a Zalman 80a-HP... The first thing I noticed when I fired up my system was that my F520 looked GOOD! Colors were bright and beatifull and lurking was very relaxed to the eyes. 2D rules on a ATI card compared to..well..you know... So, I never knew I was an ATI fan till I got me a Nvidia card, heh, ain't that a life's lesson.
