Ford feature will let parents set limits for teens (AP)

DETROIT - So you think junior is a little too lead-footed when he drives the family car? Starting next year, Ford Motor Co. will give you the power to do something about it.

The company will roll out a new feature on many 2010 models that can limit teen drivers to 80 mph, using a computer chip in the key.

well..... there are some parents that have some kind of issues with buying kids old/used cars vs a new car that they can afford......

my parents are like that, and im going to need to get a car eventually since my sister is going to be out of the house at some point..... they just dont feel right getting used cars for us un less we actually WANT them....

i think it has something to do with the safety..... i dunno

anyways, the 80mph thing is stupid really..... if they crash, theyre still pretty dead....

their parents, duh.

if the kid works, then they're probably putting in for their own gas money and perhaps a little bit of their own car insurance.

besides, if you would have READ the aritcle, you would have read that this is going to be a feature first introduce to the Ford Focus, one of Ford's most most affordable vehicles.
