Intel to Cut the Pentium 4 Pricing In October
Intel will give AMD a long break because it will not cut the prices on the Pentium 4 processors until October this year, The Inquirer revealed. As a result, Intel Pentium 4 CPU pricing is not likely to change massively throughout more than four months from now, so, if you are planning to make an upgrade, there is practically no reason to wait until the Santa Clara, California-based giant lowers the Pentium 4 costs.
Reportedly, Intel will only cut the prices of its desktop Pentium 4 chips on the 26th of October, in the fourth quarter of the year. Intel’s shareholders should now be happy since the company will enjoy higher ASPs and gross margins in the third quarter as an outcome of this decision. Here are the preliminary prices of Intel Pentium 4 CPUs after and before the 26th of October: ![]() Looks like the Celeron 2.50 and 2.60GHz processors will also be Intel’s top offerings this Summer and that means there will be no more massive price cuts on these chips for a quarter. Maybe Intel adjusts Celeron pricing sometimes in September, but looks like not in July or August. Of course, given Intel’s recent unexpected price cuts we still may expect the company to perform unexpected actions. As we know, the absence of price cuts from Intel positively impacts AMD’s business. _________________ Source: X-BitLabs |
