Bell Canada sale dies slow, painful death
A deal that seemed to have nine lives - the $51 billion sale of Canada's largest telephone company, the largest leveraged buyout ever proposed - finally died early Thursday.

Re: Bell Canada sale dies slow, painful death
I could care less about Bell Canada the monopolistic thieves they are. I have been using a private company for almost 4 years for cable inet and VOIP inet phone.
Screw you Ma Bell !!

Let them fall cos from the ashes the the people will rise like a phoenix. All this bail-out nonsense is delaying the inevitable: Absolute collapse of the world economy. Might not happen tomorrow but in time....

Re: Bell Canada sale dies slow, painful death
I wish, Hell, I would pray to God for Bell to die. They are an absolute atrocity and need to die so customers in this country can have real choices instead of everything being forced on us by Bell (not to mention them abusing that power in all manners possible).

Re: Bell Canada sale dies slow, painful death
I think it will hit many deaf Canadians hard because they rely on Bell Canada for relay calls. So many deaf people in the USA were buying Sidekicks like crazy and the Deaf Canadians were 2 years behind and then finally Rogers started selling it.

Re: Bell Canada sale dies slow, painful death
I work for Bell in a corporate store, for us that 1.2 billion is good. As for what they do as a company, I don't know how much will change. Biggest problem is customer runaround and the poor level of customer retention. Rogers isn't winning because its GSM/UMTS, its because I call rogers and I can work them into giving me a deal more simply than bell. There are way too many departments in the company for one little problem, downsizing is smart what they did to try and reduce it, but it was at a level of managment. It should of been lower level where the problems start (too much miscommunication). I know for a fact they can provide more for your dollar and they only do it when they are afraid.
You do pay more at the higher end for rogers, but they are able to grab the lower end of the market more efficiently and it is far more attractive. Internally, they do treat us well though. They own the DSL and home phone market in Ontario and Quebec, if they don't keep working on advancing rather than introduce something when Telus/Videotron/Rogers does, it will die. There is much envy for the Bold and iPhone though within the company lol, the only argument there is that HSPA has limited availability to EVDO. That doesn't stop immigrants who are coming everyday to this country to use their 3G Nokia or Sony Ericson to easily sign up for a SIM card and pop it in. In addition, a lot of first time cell phone users are still around and really don't need all that 3G/Blackbery etc stuff, they just wanna make a call and send a text. Blackberrys are thrown out the window because it creates an addiction that will ramp up their ARPU (average revenue per unit). Smart, but the lack of support you get when you have a problem and runaround just create disgruntled customers that leave with all their services to the competitor. I get the least amount of complaints about Telus. There will be improvements in the years ahead as HSPA is coming to us as is LTE, and some efforts to simplify customer service have been introduced. |

You'd think they might try to increase the number of customers, instead of trying to keep costs to customers so high. Canada ranks #8 in revenue/customer out of ~40 industrialized countries, and nearly dead last in cell phone penetration.

One frustrating thing being a Bell Canada employee I disagree with anyone who says this to me, "you are Bell, you can do anything you want". If you were in business you monkey, I am a low level employee who doesn't even get a free phone on non-contract. Nor do I know the mobility, home phone and TV managers in the office to say hey give Bob a free month because his bill was screwed. I like the company, but with great power comes great responsibility lolol |

Re: Bell Canada sale dies slow, painful death
I'd much rather see Rogers die and burn in hell. Bell isn't near as bad.

Nah, I rather play some games than search for pdfs that show internet will change in 2012 as you claim.

Re: Bell Canada sale dies slow, painful death
As a Bell Internet customer for over 5 years I could type a long list of grievances against this company. Even Google has stepped in and commented that Bell has operated illegally by interfering with the users internet experience. I kid you not, if Bell ever dies (impossible actually since Bell has the CDN government under its thumb) it would be the Canadian equivalent of the Berlin Wall being torn down.

Re: Bell Canada sale dies slow, painful death
Bell and Rogers are both guilty of screwing with customers, be it their cellphone, television, or Internet services. With their Internet service, both have download caps, but the difference between them is that Rogers will blatantly threaten their customers with account suspension if anything is wrong (or that they perceive is your fault), knowingly hinders performance by bandwidth shaping/throttling, and blatantly takes part in webpage injection (first time I saw this happen I couldn't believe it). Bell, on the other hand simply does bandwidth shaping/throttling, especially with users that leave their Internet on for weeks on end (kinda obvious what they are doing if they aren't disconnecting after that much time, now isn't it?).
BTW, for those that keep calling Bell a monopoly, take note: Rogers is too. Bell was forced to open their DSL and phone lines to other competitors, while Rogers cable is still a closed service. Rogers, also bought Sprint, and along with it their DSL service, so Rogers now offers 3 Internet services: their own on cable, wireless (which is the same one Bell uses), and DSL on BELLS LINES. Nice, hmm? On top of that Rogers owns Fido, so they have 2 cell providers (the only GSM providers), they own Cogeco, another cable/Internet provider, and they offer telephone service over cable. Who's a monopoly now? Don't be fooled, people. Both are guilty of being monopolies, and both are guilty of f***ing with their clients (be it by price gouging, fee gouging, service hindrance, or by being pricks when you don't kiss their ass). |
